Just goes to show that the Lum (Urusei Yatsura) formula works today just as well as it did when it first appeared on TV. ToLOVERu at first seems like one of the many moe/fanservice animes that have hit the market recently, but ironicly it's balanced it's fanservice ways with a really funny story.So... is it Lum? Pretty much. Instead of being lecherous, our hero is unlucky... but it's pretty much the same premise. He has a girl he likes, but every time he goes to confess his love he's hit by a random object or incident. Just when he thinks there's nothing left to hinder his confession, an alien princess falls into his life and the two become engaged.Yeah... definitely a variation on Lum. Still, this one has enough of it's own identity to carry it off without seeming shallow or pointless (I'm looking your way Rosario The Vampire).The fanservice is definitely abundant, as you can tell from the opening... but at the same time the characters are interesting and likeable. Worth checking out for a few episodes before you make your decisions on it.Like my videos?
