granny"s in the cellar--- was written in 1965 @ stu evans lincoln mercury garden city, michigan, by don elrod, at the request of a fellow worker by the name of jerry reid.jerry had a barbershop quartet that performed all over the midwest. their act was four hillbillies, playing make believe instruments (wash tub. string on a stick, etc.) and sing specialty tunes, barbershop style.don had done a lyric parable for the group, revising the words to the tune of ' hey, look me over " so jerry ask him to put together another little diddy, they could use in their act. if my memory serves me right, the song was written in about two hours.
