Chapter 4 The Meeting I was COVERED in silly string from head-to-toe. I even think some got in my mouth. "What the???? Chris you dork!" I shouted as I playfully shoved some of the silly string in his thick black hair. "Ok! Ok! Sorry Zoey! Geez! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!" he cried as I ran after him around the room. Chris was like a little brother to me, me being a twin that is at my maturity; it was fun to annoy him back. Crissy decided she would join us, I think that she had taken one too many sips of Lynn 's coffee that morning. Lynn was just standing there looking at Keith as he walked up to her. I rolled my eyes as I watched her cheeks turn red. She usually wasn't shy, but, she has had a crush on Keith since the band had first started. Shaun was nowhere to be seen, so, of course, Laurie had to ask. "Where is my lovey-dovey???" "He's....um.....in the bathroom right now." Keith said, obviously hoping to convince her. And since she had the brain of a cucumber she believed it. "Oh, ok, I'm gonna go check on him!" she practically yelled. Like I said brain of a fricken cucumber. "He likes to go pee by himself Laurie." He said, baffled by her stupidity. She made a sad face, probably the same one that she made at her daddy when she didn't get what she wanted. Keith had a little bit of authority over her though, so she quickly looked away. Chris was pretty much an athlete, even in just the 8th grade. He played soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis and his favorite, ping-pong. Dorky, I know. Exactly why he felt like a little brother to me. But, they looked like they were really hitting it off. They had stopped running and was just sitting on the floor talking. It was actually kinda cute. Lynn 's face had gone back to normal and she was laughing. Keith was always the funny one, she was probably laughing at his.....vine that he wrapped around his neck. He carried it everywhere, I call it a vine because it reaches his pant pockets, and he has to wrap it around his neck a few times when he puts it on. Shaun was still nowhere in sight, and I found myself missing him. I mean when he's not around, I feel like..... "So, how have you been Zoey?" Laurie said in that annoyingly high voice. "Are you still living in that ruddy—I mean comfortable apartment of yours?" I was annoyed by her obvious insult. Why did she hate me so much? I'd find out later. "Yeah, as a mater of fact, I am. I was thinking on getting a duplex but—""oh, great! I was hoping you would move out of that junkyard you called a house. Can I come over to your new place and decorate it so it won't look so much like your grandma's house?" she interrupted. "But I think that the place I have is sentimental, and I should keep it." I finished. Trying not to show my anger. "Oh..." she said in that nasty little voice of hers as she wrinkled her nose. Keith noticed how red my face was and decided to help me and get her out of there. "Hey, Laurie, isn't that movie rehearsal in half an hour?" "OH MY GOD!!! Your right! I gotta get going. Great seeing you again Keith, Chris. Love you guys!" she yelled as she rushed to the door. Of course, she couldn't bother saying my name. "Sorry about her Zoey. You o.k.? I heard some of the stuff she said and—"he said thoughtfully. "Yeah I'm fine" I said quickly before I ruined his mood. "I'm not gonna let her get me down. I said with a smile as he went back to talking with Lynn . "Well, she was right about one thing." Chris said. "Oh yeah? And what is that?" I said with an annoyed smirk. "Your house does look like an old lady's place." Crissy burst out laughing. Like I said, Chris is annoying. I could see Keith trying not to laugh out of courtesy. "Well you know what?" I said "give me that" I demanded as I grabbed at the silly string and started to shake it. "Don't you dare Zoey....ZOEY!!!!" he screeched as I covered him in the sticky mess. "I don't shoot like an old lady, do I" I laughed as I continued to get Crissy too. Soon Keith and Lynn joined in. And then I screamed.

I didn't know what the secret surprise might be. I could only hope it was amazing. The only thing I knew was that I wouldn't have to wait too much longer my birthday was in about a month!As the days grew nearer I began counting each second.
