Magria

Of the ten newest added pets and challenges my final tame was Magria. As with Ankha I got nekkid first and then cast tame beast. He does attack but it’s nothing you shouldn’t be able to live through. I tamed him in the same spot after finally switching specs, getting nekkid and relocating him.

I’m glad that this is the last one because I have no more room in my stables. I would also like to thank the horde hunter who attacked me while my screen was loading from exiting Molten Front. If not for you I would have missed seeing Magria being up! Good luck fellow hunters!

Skarr

Skarr toyed with me about 5 times which ended badly for myself. Finally I figured it out and away we went. Other people talked about just hitting deterrence and getting lots of haste up to tame faster but I found a simpler way, at least for me it worked.

1. I cast a DPS shot to get the party started.
2. He cast fireball back at me.
3. I cast tame beast which forces him to stop and cast Fieroclast Barrage. which hurts like hell btw.
4. I cast silencing shot and tame beast.
5. I am now his master.

And that is how I did it. He does hit hard but you can take the fireball spell with no problem. You can’t take the Fieroclast Barrage because it hits hard and also stuns you.

Anthriss

Sadly I tamed this spider so fast I don’t remember what I did! If I’m not mistaken I used deterrence and then cast tame beast. Either way he was really easy and I love how bright his skin color is. He is located at the bottom of the ramp that leads to the other spiders that look like him.

Skitterflame

My first few attempts at this ended poorly and was entirely my fault, except that one time where he walked over the faulty trap that just sat there… Anyways with this guy you need to slow him with frost or freeze traps. When you do this it starts killing his energy which allows you to tame him. The object is to get his energy to 20 before taming but if his energy hits 0 he dies. I think it took 2 traps and I would recommend killing all the rock guys in the area so you can just kite him in a circle on the small island where he’s found. Other than that it’s cut and dry.

Solix

This guy was easy! While some hunters may find it hard I used MM spec and kept him snared only with Concussive Shop and Chimera. A lap around the area were he spawns and with 20 energy left I tamed him. The key here is to keep him snared / slowed cause if not he likes to catch his prey and then, well… you can imagine.

I don’t have a damage report for this guy as I tamed him first try and since I don’t like to be eaten I stayed away!

Karkin

In the past 24 hours I have knocked out 5 of the newest rare pets. It would have been 6 but I accidentally killed Skitterflame… fail I know..

Anyways here is my 5th pet and it was super easy. He spawns on the rock platforms in the area listed on the location map below. This was a simple cast tame beast and wait. I didn’t have to do anything special since he casts a pretty hard hitting spell but it does have a cast time which means you’ve got time even if he hits you several time.

This is my new tank pet, my other is an Ooze. Enjoy and good luck fellow hunters!

Kirix

This guy killed me more times than any pet I’ve tamed. The key here is to not get hit by his toxic poison. Basically when he starts to cast you use deterrence and tame beast. I really can’t give much more information because that’s all I did. This is a pretty spider, if that’s even possible and now has a happy home. He looked a little flustered running around those rocks all the time. Just remember if you get hit by his toxic poison you are going to die, no questions asked.

Deth'tilac

I may not be the first but he is officially mine! It just so happens he was up again and this time he was mine. I really wasn’t sure what to expect but all in all this was one of the easier tames, even though it wasn’t supposed to be, that I’ve encountered. All you have to do is run around in a circle dropping frost traps and snake traps along with hitting him with concussion shot.

Some of you are probably saying “did he just say easy?” and I will admit I died one time but it was my own fault as I missed my turn around spot but other than that he never gets close to you if you’re doing it right. He takes damage by casting death strike on your snakes. After about 20 minutes I would estimate and when he’s around 20% the buff that keeps you from taming him fades. Just keep some distance at this point and use tame beast spell. /end story

Ankha

Day two and here we go! While heading to do dailies I spotted Ankha the Spirit Beast in Mount Hyjal walking around. I had read that this pets attack is based off your armor rating so I was prepared with a “Get Nekkid” macro which is basically me with no clothes on… Anyway I get nekkid chase Ankha down and start to cast my tame beast when all of a sudden everything phases out… I’m still not 100% what happened but I couldn’t even mount! Needless to say my true dwarven language came out. After a couple minutes everything phased back in but to my suprise I’m standing in the middle of 4 mobs who decide to attack a nekkid dwarf!

Long story short I relocated Ankha hit the tame beast and I am now this awesome spirit beasts master.

Ban'thalos

As some of you may know we my wife and I started playing Warcraft again. Before we started I read up on some changes and noticed there were ten new hunter pets to get. Sadly I don’t think I have room for all ten but we will see what happens.

Starting off I found Ban’thalos in Mount Hyjal flying over the Sanctuary of Malorne while doing dailies. He does fly out of combat range so you’re going to need some ingenuity or in my case engineering. Thankfully I have the ability to add a parachute to my cloak and this time it paid off. Others claim you can stand on top of some tree near him then fly up, dismount and tag him, then land on the tree. I however did not find such a tree to hold my dwarfness.

I was getting ready to dismount, tag him and safely fall to the ground when I realized that my cape no longer had a parachute attached as I had just upgraded. I had to log on an alt, get some frostweave, mail it to my hunter, use my portable mail box and then use Jeeves to get the rest of the components I needed to engineer my flexweave underlay. I get ALL that done and Ban’thalos is still flying high to my thankfulness.

I’ll go ahead and let you know that this is one mean bird. I did nothing different for taming him but I can say it was a close tame. His moonfire hit me 3 times for 30k+ and then his melee was around 4k+. Once tagged I dropped a freeze trap, which lasted maybe 3 seconds, and proceeded to tame the spirit beast. I am very happy to have a new pet to my collection and he is a beautiful bird.
